Naomi is a registered herbalist with the American Herbalist Guild and is in the process of becoming registered with the Christian Herbalist Guild. She has been working with herbs since 2008 and opened her practice in 2018.
Tongue Assessment Workshop
Tongue assessment is the ancient practice of observing signs on the tongue that indicate certain places and qualities inside the body. As part of a differential, holistic assessment that also includes thorough history taking, listening to a person share their story, watching their body language, and considering other signs of the skin, hair, nails, or even eyes, tongues can offer valuable insight into a person’s needs. In this one hour class, you will learn the basics, including tongue mapping, how the six tissue states of western herbalism fit the picture, the body types according to Southern Folk Medicine, common signs, oral care in general, and how to put it all together. This class was designed as a beginner class for people wanting to assess their own tongues, but you can use it as a launch point from which you begin to incorporate into your own assessment protocols, and further resources for education are provided within this class.
